Between the holidays and the Sandy Hook tragedy, I dare say December has been a tough month for Kickstarter projects. Even so, the Tornado Maker from Outthink, Inc., a mom-invented product, is doing quite well. They are more than 75% of the way to their fundraising goal, but they've only got a few days left to make it to the top.
Tornado Maker is just the first in a series of detailed-oriented, science-based apps that Ouththink, Inc. plans to publish. All of their fun educational apps are based on generative instruction and have a high "cool" factor that will engage even reluctant tweens.
The campaign is ending soon, so don't hesitate on this one!

I think that getting girls interested in science and technology and *keeping* them interested is going to be a long haul. I had high hopes for my daughter, who has an aptitude for math and science -- but has lost interest as she has matured. Now a high school junior, she is looking at (wait for it!) writing programs. Of course, I was the same way when I was her age -- I only became interested in tech and science when I was older.
