Game Builders Academy (Grades 2-10 except where noted): Game Builders Academy follows the Classic Hofstra Day Camp model, pairing a part-day specialty experience with part-day recreation and Red Cross instructional swim. Through coding, game design, robotics, esports, animation, and digital arts, campers learn by designing, building, and creating - developing transferable academic and technical skills in an engaging, project-based environment. Campers may enroll in part-day programs paired with Rec and Swim, or - for students in grades 6-10 - upgrade to a full-day Makerspace experience for deeper, immersive learning.
Why Game-Based Learning Works? Game Builders Academy programs are intentionally designed to strengthen problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Research shows that well-designed game-based learning improves engagement and skill development when paired with guided instruction. We don't teach video game development - we teach math, science, technology, and critical thinking through video game development.
