Overview
We immerse students in multi-day overnight science camps and day field studies in spectacular natural settings on the shore of Lake Tahoe and other local sites.
Students hike, snowshoe, learn local ecology, and more with hands-on, standards-based activities, and volunteer on conservation projects. With community support, Great Basin Outdoor School opens doors to lifelong outdoor learning for children in need. Lessons build healthy habits, social and academic skills, and a connection to the community and the natural world. Teachers receive STEM training and professional development credit.
Great Basin Outdoor School operates exclusively in Nevada and has served thousands of children and adults as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 1998. Children in need are included thanks to generous community support.
Teachers bring classes in winter, spring, and fall, & parents bring children to school break day camps. Teachers learn too!
